Their existence makes Earth feel inhabited before Adamic history fully begins. The early world is therefore not empty terrain waiting for humanity but a place with boundaries, dangers and older claims.
Why They Matter
The Imaerial widen the scale of the series beyond a simple retelling of Genesis. They allow the novels to ask what else might have existed at creation’s margins—and what happens when expanding humanity encounters beings it does not understand.
